About this Portfolio :
The present collection began with the selection of 14 works, because 14 is the numerological equivalent (gematria) of the Hebrew acronym Chabad. (חב״ד( The acronym Chabad stands for three Hebrew words, themselves representative of ancient mystical concepts: Chochma, Bina and Da’at. (ודעת בינה חכמה (These words, and more particularly the concepts they represent are the point of departure for and the unifying theme of all the pieces being presented in this collection. The essence of Chochma, which is commonly translated as wisdom, must journey between worlds and cross over to our plane of existence before it can be attained by human consciousness. The primary manner in which this divine wisdom is brought from these distant realms to our perception is by means of prayer and benediction. The benediction and the prayer are the means by which all of the benevolent influence that gives life and light to existence are brought into our world and- in particular- into the Land of Israel. Regarding the Land of Israel, it is written in the Torah that “It is a land upon which the eyes of Hashem your God rest their gaze from the beginning of the year until the end of the year.” The purpose of all of Creation is to unify the Name of the Holy One Blessed is He in this world, but this purpose will not be achieved until the light of His Name comes to be revealed in the world. When this comes to pass then, as our sages have said, “our eyes will behold your (Hashem’s) return to Tzion in your mercy.” This means that The Holy One Blessed is He will return to reign in His world with all of His glory and splendor apparent to His creations as He brings about the ultimate and complete redemption.
